Commissioner Josephus Eggelletion, Jr. was born April 23, l949 in Miami, Florida, and has resided in Broward County, FL, since l955. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, Florida, in l971. Additional certificates and course work include Certified Barber and Hairstylist, Florida Teacher’s Certificate, and advanced level studies in Urban Management at Florida Atlantic University.
Upon graduation from college, Commissioner Eggelletion began his career with Jack Eckerd Drugs, Inc. working in a managerial capacity from l971 to l974. Commissioner Eggelletion began his career as an educator in the Broward County School System at Cooper City High School in l974 where he taught until his transfer to Dillard High School in l979. Commissioner Eggelletion’s tenure as an instructor of American Government and Economics at Dillard High School marks a return to the very high school where he received his own diploma in l967! Commissioner Eggelletion currently serves as a Diversity Specialist with the Broward County School Board in addition to owning and operating a chain of barber shops.
Commissioner Eggelletion is married to Carolyn Taylor Eggelletion, who is a principal in the Broward County School System. He is the proud father of two children, LaShawnda, who holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and is completing work on her Doctorate; and Josephus III, who is a graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C. and presently enrolled in the Physical Therapists Masters Degree Program at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida.
